schedule

Every day at American English Language School, students will be able to practice their reading, writing, grammar, listening, and speaking. Every quarter, our ESL classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. with 10-minute breaks at the end of each hour. We follow a quarter schedule, so each ESL course lasts 12 weeks (or 3 months), but you may sign up for as many quarters as you would like.

Every Monday, the class will begin with students presenting their Activity Projects that help students review and show their understanding of the previous unit. Then, teachers will go over the previous Friday’s test. Students will be able to see what questions they missed and why, and ask about any other questions they have about the test.

For the next hour, students will practice English writing and grammar. Teachers will give students a writing prompt, and they are to respond to the prompt in a clear and organized essay. Teachers will then go over each student's essay with him or her and correct the mistakes together.Students will also go over and do a grammar challenge from their textbook together.

The last skill that students will work on is English listening. They will be given a worksheet and listen to an English conversation from a character in the textbook. This activity is for students to practice listening to and understanding English conversations.

In addition, every week (or every other week, depending on the level), students will be assigned a book to read for homework. Throughout the week (or weeks), students answer reading comprehension questions to show their understanding of the book and complete vocabulary homework. The weekly reading will help you to become a better reader and build your vocabulary.

In each ESL class, our goal is the same: to keep the English conversation going. Sometimes teachers will choose articles that are related to the material they have been going over and have students read and discuss the topic. We know that students rarely get to practice their English outside of the classroom, so our main goal is for them to get as much speaking practice as they can while they are enrolled in our English language school.
